What: In-person Data Engineering NL meetup
When: February 23, 17.45 CET
Where: BigData Republic Office, Coltbaan 4c in Nieuwegein
As a data professional, the know-how of dealing with privacy sensitive data has become more important than ever. What does the law say? How to implement this as an organization?
To address the pressing importance of data protection The European Union has come up with GDPR: General Data Protection Regulation, a privacy regulation that oversees the way companies handle and manage personal data from their customers. For this meetup we invited two speakers to talk about their knowledge surrounding this regulation as well as how to apply data privacy in practice.
In the first talk, Annelies van Nuland will guide us through everything you need to know about GDPR from the view of a data professional. What does GDPR apply to? Which measures should organizations take?
Supporting privacy regulations in a large organization is easier said than done. A great example is Bol.com, where they developed an in-house tool called Amnesia, to support the Right To Be Forgotten (RTBF) principle. In the second talk, Arnout Kuiper will explain how this tool came to be, and how it works.
Do you want to learn more about both the theory and practice of working with privacy sensitive data? Then join us on Thursday 23 February! As always, there will be interesting talks, good food, and even better discussions.
We're excited to welcome you in person to this next event. In case you have questions, please contact Daniël (daniel.mast@bigdatarepublic.nl).
